Kidney problems using rubber mattina

I have heard that horses kept on rubber matting can contract kidney problems when used on its own with no other bedding.
Does anyone know where I can research this further?

google scholar it! just type the word 'scholar' into google and it'll bring up a scientific paper search engine - there's loads of veterinary and medical research stuff on it.
