Hope you're not too sore. Congratulations on achieving your first fall :D They used to say you had to fall off 7 times to be considered a rider, so only 6 more to go lol. If it's any consolation I once fell off 3 times in one lesson

Wow UK seems nicer than here, here its 100 before youre a good rider!!
Part of riding is unfortunately learning to fall, so glad you're not too sore and got back on straight away!

I'm UK and was also told I had to fall off 100 times to be a rider....as a young kid learning this meant I fell off a lot as I wanted to be a real rider :D I was even given a 'grass inspector' trophy at one place I rode at every day whilst on holiday for 2 weeks, I fell off at least once a day

Bad luck on the fall RayRay, but well done for carrying on :)

Well that explains a lot - I have fallen off way more than 7 times, but not as many as 100. Wondered why I wasn't out there with Charlotte Dujardin yet.

Keep moving, go for little walks, don't sit still for too long a period in one go that'll help get things moving again!

Get up every 30 mins and have a little walk around, doesn't have to be a long walk, just keep moving for a few minutes will do, then you can go back to your uni work.

Congratulations on your first fall :p don't let it put you off, people fall all the time the more you ride and the better your balance gets it will less frequent, you get more used to it too. There's a really good farm ride not too far from me and every time I've been I've fell off and I've been 9 times in the past 12 months! I do mean every time I go, it's become a joke between friends now that I just can't stay on. If I'm on my own my OH runs round me because I can't be trusted to get round without hitting the deck, the joys of having a very pingy pony!

You will hurt, try not to sit in one position for too long. I'm often in work with a heat bag on my neck for whiplash from being catapulted off.

Pretty much everywhere. I'm not actually sure it felt like I landed on one of my sides but my mum who was watching thought I landed on my back and rolled over

Its a 'how long is a piece of string' question how long the pain will last, but probably a few days to a week.
Longer if you do stay in one position for long periods of time, hence us suggesting small walks or get up and move around then sit back down again.
It is a part of riding unfortunately, but you do learn to 'bounce' <how to fall> and your balance will get better, I can't tell you how many falls I've had, or kicks, bruises, sprains, getting stood on, etc etc. 4 broken bones!

Falling off is the worst thing about horse riding. You just have to accept that every so often you will fall off. My horse is as saintly as they come, but I have managed to fall off him 4 times. The most important thing is that you get back on again!

I always find it worst on the second day - it gets better quickly from there.
