I called the vet because the poor boy was not improving. She came really quickly and it's definitely laminitis. He'll be in for at least 2 weeks.

Bugger and bum. We were doing so well.

Bugger! On the plus side you know what it is and can deal with it now.
Sending over bucketfuls of healing vibes for ziggy.

Oh no, but it sounds like you caught it early, so hopefully he will recover quickly...sending him tons of healing vibes, poor guy.

Well, he's got a nice deep bed now and is much more comfortable with the vet's injection of painkiller.

I'm to Bute him till Monday and walk him out on Sunday to see how he's doing.

sounds as if you have caught it early, healing vibes on the way from us

We are on lammi watch now, this weather is not helping at all one minute rain, then Sun , we are still feeding the boys hay in a restricted area once a day to supplement and layer for what bit of fresh they are getting!

He's much better today, thank you all. Standing easily with one hind hoof cocked when I arrived, long after the vet's pain relief would have worn off. He's a bit cross about the soaked hay but going mad for wintergreen and German chamomile essential oils.

On Sunday I'll try him outside the shelter for a few steps just to see how he is walking.
