Hi, I used to ride when I was younger but abruptly stopped when I was 10 as the pony I had a connection with passed away. 15 years later I'm back at lessons and loving it! Any advice for, an all intents and purposes, a very much novice rider re-building her confidence? :)

Welcome to New Rider :)
I think I would say that learning to ride isn't a means to an end - its all part of the fun. So withing reason don't set yourself targets, just enjoy yourself. Also remember that there will be times when you will feel like you are going backwards - don't panic it happens to us all!

Just enjoy it and remember it's not a steady learning curve. You'll have times where you feel like your riding is really moving forwards, followed by times when you seem to be going backwards again! It can feel like if you master one thing, it sets all the other things out of kilter!

But it's all worth it!

I took a 21 year break so I know how you feel!

Just enjoy.... and read up on modern horsemanship practises..... a LOT had changed during my time away!!!
