Using an older saddle?

Evening everyone. Just out of curiosity if anyone uses an older style English saddle? I dont really know alot about saddles and my one dosn't have a makers Mark. (There is a metal plate under the skirt of the saddle however whatever was written there is well worn away, just a bit of green left)...
