Does anyone soak there linseed before feeding it. I noticed that if not mixed into the feed well the one doesnt eat it too easy. With him coughing as well. I'm wondering if I should soak before adding to the feed. I already soak sugarbeet so thinking of just adding it into that so it soaks for 24hrs before I use.

I have always fed micronized linseed mixed in a feed with just a little bit of water to damp it all down, there shouldn't be any need to soak it at all - but then I tend to dampen down all feeds regardless. It is a powdery thing though isn't it so if he has a cough I would be damping down anyway.

He doesn't like his feed too wet or won't eat but I can get away with adding the soaked sugarbeet. I just notice he's being funny over the micronised linseed at present maybe due to the cough it might be sticking in the throat. Maybe if that's wet and clings more to the other feed he might eat it.

Well it is certainly worth a try. Dolly refuses to eat anything too wet and sloppy too...what will I do when her teeth eventually all fall out and she needs mash to survive lol!

Linseed can spoil quite quickly, maybe instead of soaking for 24 hours try putting it into the beet when you arrive so it gets half hour (or however long) before adding it to the rest of the feed?

I’d mix it with the wet sugar beet before the rest of his feed and it should help. I add chaff to my feed, but don’t do it until I’ve mixed in biotin, linseed and turmeric to his fast fibre which is quite sloppy on its own until the chaff is added.

Lol our two old biddies are fussy like that, has to be a certain consistency or else it just gets left:oops:
