2017 Hacking/ Riding Challenge.... Add your photos too

Pony was fab today! He worked so hard on his left rein canter and yes it was wibbly wobbly but we didn't care because he gave it his all and that's good enough for me. He worked so hard that he was sweating on his ears, above his eyes and he was very warm. Even his girth line was sweaty and he's clipped there so that almost never happens. We did a good half hour of brisk walk and trot - friend's daughter was in the school on her pony practicing her show routine so I didn't want to get in the way and walk and trot seemed like the most sensible option at the time - and then we did a good 20 minutes of canter work on both reins but mostly his left rein as that's his weak one. Really proud of him. He is such a superstar when he's being cooperative! x

I'd love to join!

I've already been up to so much... especially this week! Monday I just had a plod around the arena as tom was quite sharp and spooky. Tuesday was a fabulous ride, rode with my best friend Zoe, who was on @SeeingSpots pony! The weather was lovely so we rode for ages, probably a good hour after various shenanigans with bridle changes etc, but Tom was fab! Didn't ride Wednesday but helped some kids from a youth club have a pony experience at my riding school. Rode twice on Thursday, on the morning did a 20 minute hack down to the beach, cantered and galloped along the beach for half an hour before walking along the beach for a bit to let all the horses cool off, then did the 20 min hack back. Went home, grabbed some food and went to the yard to ride tom. we did some pole work which he was quite good at, and I rode with Tia and Phoebe, two younger kids who are cracking riders and were much speedier than tom and I. Friday I also rode twice, did an hour on a lovely cob from my riding school where we did loads of canter because she was really enthusiastic. On the afternoon I rode on my own and we worked on Tom's right rein, which he struggles more with. yesterday I helped out at my riding school 9-5 and had a lesson on a lovely thoroughbred x Hanoverian, Mae, where we did no stirrup work. luckily she was really comfy! this time last month I was riding once a week so about 4 hours a month. with some lucky opportunities I have now ridden in total about 6 hours this week alone!

I've been very remiss and have no pictures from this weekend :(

On Saturday Harvey and I went off to explore another bridleway. We saw our first Spring lambs - I was going to take a picture but we had just gone through the gate onto the bridleway and Harvey was bouncing around wanting to go for a run. Although in general the ground round here is sodden the first bit of the bridleway was dry so we had a nice fast canter.

On Sunday we started in the school and I did some cross poles for 15 minutes mainly to practice my control in canter. We then went for a quick hack round the block, but when we were nearly back I met one of the other liveries who was exercising the YO's horse who she hasn't ridden out before so we joined them and retraced our steps.

I've been terrible this past week! Monday I rode Maddie at home for a quick half hour, but then it poured down all week so I couldn't ride at all! And not jsut a little shower that I could have gone out in, it was p*ssing down! So no riding until Saturday, where I rode Mad at the forest for an hour, andus 45mins at home. Sunday I had a terrible migraine and was throwing up so couldn't ride either. Hasn't been my week :(
Last night though I managed to get Aus to the forest for 90mins, he was a weirdo, there was a terrifying tree (imagine that being in the forest! How unnatural, no wonder he spooked!) that took us a while to walk past, then the ditch and stream and bridge he normally mucks around before finally leaping over like theyre full of crocodiles, this time he just went oh yep and walked straight through. I'll try get some more pics up, haven't for awhile!

Running total:
Aus: 226.75hrs
Mads: 6hrs

Had a quick ride around the field this morning as heavy rain was forecast for the afternoon. The field is so wet and muddy in places I really shouldn't ride in it as we are trashing it:rolleyes: but to tell you all the truth I have got a bit fed up hacking out on the roads all the time...I will get the hubby to harrow and roll them once they start to dry up a bit and hopefully they will soon bounce back.. We always end up with far too much grass anyways :p

Poor Marley what he has to put up with from me..think its safe to say that I really do love him :D

Total ridden 14hrs

@joellie it gets worse - yesterday my float door broke so we're stuck at home!! Luckily the lovely mechanic said he could squeexe the repair in today and my wonderful wonderful father (who clearly retired so his life could revolve around me more) drove the float down to him!

I went for my first solo hack on my share horse today AND it's windy! A huge huge accomplishment for me so feeling a little proud unusually. Oh and I met a riding school out who were having some trouble with their lead horse so I lead them home to give the other horse confidence :O :O :D my share horse is just absolutely amazing, what a fantastic horse!
