Just had my farrier out for a check up as I realised he hasn't seen the ponies in 6 months (I trim in between visits but we normally have him every 12 weeks or so to keep us on track) and he came, looked, said theres nothing for him to do, didn't charge me for the visit and left :D I'm one happy bunny with that :)

Fantastic what a great farrier! And you are obviously doing something right

You were very lucky he didn't ask for a contribution for fuel. That would have been a reasonable request.
I haven't had billy trimmed since I've had him. That's 11 months. He checked him the other day and said there's nothing on there and the feet are still balanced.

I did offer to pay him, he wouldn't accept it :) I have to run a file round jess' feet about every 10 days, they just don't get enough wear on our soft ground and if I leave it longer she gets a bit uncomfortable.

Mine usually says he feels bad charging as nothing to do.
I usually get him every six months or so.
But I am happy as he just checks the balance.

Thats what I like mine to do, I'm always happy to pay for his skilled opinion even if it is just to tell me all is well.
