Good lesson today

I rode a horse i hadn'r rode before a lovely lilte mare called molly(lilte does not mean easy though).

Apartly according the instructor today the things thats holding me back now is my heals i just can't seem to keep them down

Try thinking toes up rather than heels down, sometimes that helps plus it doesn't seem to shoot the lower leg forward like a forced down heel does. Heels don't need to be dramatically down (if you try to do that you'll probably put so much force into it that you make yourself tense in the saddle), just enough to keep your weight in them .
 
I do try to think toes up but they just go down. Instucters seem to. Want heals down quite a bit
 
Don't try to force your heels down - just think about your weight falling into the back of your feet. This comes from sitting up straight and balanced, not tipping forward.

This is a permanent struggle for me too!
 
I'm always being told to put my heals down though. My insuctor even told me to image they were made of led last week.
