Well I entered a prelim dressage comp in September which was a bit of a disaster and we scored 58% which included a ONE for the 2nd canter work! That wasn't surprising - my dressage all summer was dreadful. Amber was good at jogging, trotting or bogging off. Walk and canter were more challenging! All the fast work and XC over the summer was great fun and did wonders for my jumping confidence but it made it even harder to keep a lid on her enthusiasm.
I have worked really, really hard on her rideability - especially in canter - and finally felt ready to enter another test. Could not find one IRL so I have done an interdressage walk/trot//canter test. They score pretty generously I think but I was still delighted with 72%. Currently in 3rd place.
There were 2 dogs lying on the track as we did our second canter. Those dogs are always running about the school when I ride and I was NOT going to move out of their way. Amber went past but kicked out towards them on the canter transition which was a shame. She was also a bit tense in anticipation of the 2nd canter, but the rest of the time she was relaxed and obedient. Love my lovely orange beastie.
I am also entered at the venue I got 58% at on the 29th December. I doubt I'll get anywhere near that score there, but am hoping for a marked improvement on last time...... can hardly be worse!
Had her almost a year now. It has flown by.
