Ligament injury's

Do you mean a medial ligament? Remedial is something you do to fix something.
What is the injury to the coffin bone? A fracture, a cyst etc?
Do you mean collateral ligament rather than joint? Is it a sprain/tear/leision?
Where is the arthritis?
Its good the tendons and navicular aren't involved.
There have been lots of developments in barefoot rehab now, have a look at rockley farm for some inspiration.

i only work 17.5 hours a week and have to pay for two horses, one being the daughter's i am lucky if i have £50 left a month, i dont go out i dont drink and i dont smoke all my time and money goes on my horses...... I wish i could get a full time job which i could sit comfortably every month but its not the case with me......... i am also a carer for my parants hence i cant have a full time job would be nice but that aint gonna happen just yet, i work for my horses i don't care if i don't have decent clothes on my back as long as they are OK
Do you get carers allowance? If you are officially their carer then that might be worth looking in to.
I can assure you not everyone with a full time job is sitting comfortably at the end of the month, everyone has their own stuff going on.

I would discuss with your vet your financial situation. If the insurance cover doesn't provide full cover, they may be able to come to offer a payment plan. I do think it's important they are aware of it from the start, so they can plan treatment (both long & short term) according to your personal circumstances.

I hope she comes sound for you.

Right I was trying to write all this down whilst my vet was talking to me about it all, she talks quite fast, it must be Medial, she said she had an injury to the coffin bone, no mention of a cyst so must be a fracture.s a
she said Collateral ligament, i would suggest it is a sprain.
The Arthritis in on the inside/left side of the right foot which is mild atm .
Vet reckons she has either been gooning around in the field and has slipped in the mud, or whilst standing in the mood when she has gone to move has gone over on her foot, our fields can get very muddy during the winter, this mystery lameness has already been six months.

The problem i have with her is she is sound in walk, a bit bobby in trot, tacked up in walk she is fine, but once you try and trot her on the right rein, she almost goes on her knees on the left front leg, almost come off her the first time as i was not expecting it, as there has been no swelling and no heat it was a mystery lameless at first then i knew something was wrong and then i called the vet, the vet only picked up on it after she was boxed rested for 12 wks and when it was still going on after that, she then thought and MRI would get to the bottom of it, and this it has,

So do you think that bar shoes would be a good thing to do i know i need to do what is right by her, but i honesly cannot afford them if after the insurance runs out, plus she will have to have them on permanatly from now on would'nt she? even if she does come right?.
I will take a look a look at Rockly farm, i am gutted this has happend we are new to doing shows and had so many plans for us this year, took me 5 years to save for the trailer and the land rover, and only been out three times, makes it worse when i have to watch my daughter show her pony and the others on the yard, it is a very big competion yard so you can see why i am gutted, i am not being selfish as others have said, just very upset it has happend to me when i look after my mare like she is a princess and there is others that just throw them in after being in the field and dont put the hours in like i do ....
\hope this helps ........

Its probably best to ask your vet for a written report so you know exactly what you are dealing with, you can't just assume because its not a bone cyst that it is a fracture and arthritis to the outside of the foot could be 2 different joints or 2 different bones and thats just within the foot and doesnt start to include the pastern or fetlock. You can't possibly do any proper reasearch into barefoot rehab if you don't really understand whats happened.

I can relate to what you are feeling in regard to showing, we have been there for 3 yrs, once due to my daughter receiving treatment then when she was given the all clear to ride again her pony went down with Lammi, that meant all last year off, looking forwards to this year and getting back to the show ring - he now has what is a suspected field injury which following thermal imaging and a Mctimony session has highlighted his pelvis was out ( manipulation has hopefully sorted) but he has what looks like a ligament tear/strain to his back - he has another session in 4 weeks at which point a vet referral may needed for an MRI if his back has not responded how they expect, either way this year is now out showing wise, her options to ride her veteran was scuppered last year due to COPD and full retirement. We still have 2 littlies we can show in hand or do fun shows with the grandchildren but they are few and far between and not where she wants to be. He should be backed now but can't be and not sure he will ever be dependent on outcome - so basically both inhand and ridden showing are out as was riding full stop. We don't have our own land or an endless pot of money - we pay livery for 2 stables and rent for a field on a per horse basis, the littlies class as one, so 3 to be paid for - we do share costs which helps, so 2 each. We sat down and did the maths, cut down on non essentials and decided that we could afford another show pony for her - her last as shes only 5 and daughter is 40, so as a fortieth present I bought her Gem - and we will split the upkeep costs until we eventually have to say goodbye to our 27 yr old - hopefully not for a few years yet (cannot imagine the field without her). I work full time, daughter works full time and also has her own business which she uses the small profits from towards their upkeep. We have never taken a pony on lightly without giving a lot of thought to what might happen in the future - the ponies are my daughters children ( she cannot have any) , we have fun with them as do the Grandchildren - they are hard work at times and expensive if something goes wrong but we make it work - life is short so you have to make it work for you and what you want from it - we have no regrets and the past few years led to a glass half full attitude to life when things got scary - but we are getting there.

~We are maybe fortunate in that we can do this, have you thought of a share for the summer, work for ride, maybe where you can put some showing in, allowing you to enjoy your passion but give you more time decision wise regarding your own horse - some breathing space.... maybe explore options - can you pick up some extra work anywhere that would help - maybe do something from home

It is not being selfish - I think you are being realistic - but give yourself time and space to do what's right for you -
