Very lame in hind leg.

Need the vet out to the pony tomorrow - AGAIN. But whilst waiting wondered what your thoughts are. She's come in this afternoon very lame on one hind leg - I thought at first she'd been kicked but there's not evidence of a kick and actually no heat anywhere as far as I can tell. But she is very lame - can't get her to pick up her foot for me to pick it out, and she can't clear the ground with that leg when she's walking. From the description, which part of the leg is likely to be affected? Any ideas???

I would definitely say abscess - they can go suddenly badly lame, so much so that it can look like they've broken something! The farrier should be able to find it better than the vet, and it will probably be cheaper too

If she cant clear the ground when walking my guess would be stifle. Did you check that far up her leg?
