Winter Motivation help

Do you brave the cold/rain/dark to still play and ride with your horse?

I went up tonight as it was my turn to muck pick and feed everyone's horses. I was going to get the sand school lights on afterwards and have a quick play/maybe a ride if she was in the right mood. It, however, started raining and I was glad of an excuse.

How do you get motivated in the evenings? I need help!

I find it very hard to get motivated in the winter especially as we are now down to two liveries in a six horse livery yard. I am lucky in as much as I work split shifts and can manage to ride in the day light. We also dont have a menage so hacking is all I can do in the winter. But once you do 'get on with it' and you have an enjoyable ride it all seems worthwhile. I very often miss the buzz of a bigger livery yard but dont miss all the bitching and opinions just the socialising with the nicer liveries.

I do find it difficult, but fortunate in that I work 3-4 long days a week so get 3-4 days off a week to ride.

I woudl find it hard at night though.

We're lucky to have an indoor school and I think that is going to be my favourite place over the winter. It is not as big as the outdoor but it is dry and warm and very appealing!

Sometimes I go up though and just spend time grooming and messing about with him. I have been feeling a bit guilty, like I should be doing more, but I'm over that now and if I want to just chill out with him then that's okay.

I never had a problem when I worked at the RS... It was my sanctuary, my life really.

Now I have my own (wahey I can say it, still excited two months down the line ) Im also not struggling. However, I know I will when I move her as I will have an option to pay someone to do her for me - I dont know so have to go up no questions. I know that sounds horrid - but there hunting in the dark and wet is no fun. On days off it will be no problem just after work.
