beds in stables!!!

we use hemp bedding, it's great stuff! i'm another who doesn't bother with banks, as has been said, to have any effect they need to be substantial. I don't like beds too deep, my friend had a deep bed with huge banks, with a shallow bit dug out by the door. His mare rolled and got wedged in the bit by the door

ok.... mine is on rubber matting with a generous helping of shavings to soak up her wee (she is VERY wet) and then good amount of straw on top with no banks. I have just brought her in at night and am trying out the method of leaving the wee in for a number of days, just taking out the poos and little bit of wet straw. So far its working and I am much more chilled out about how her bed should be, after all what does she care if not every bit of wee is taken out every day?
