We believe that riding should be an enjoyable experience. Out aim is to teach in a relaxed and happy way so that you go home smiling and are really looking forward to your next visit. No pressure will be put on you at any time to do more than you want to. This way your comfidence will build rapidly and you will learn basic riding skills quickly and easily. You will usually be taught be the same person each week - we have no students! We want you to enjoy your time here.

| Directions |
|
We are 2 miles west of the A68. Going north on A68, through Toft Hill and when coming onto the double white lines turn left for Hamsterley, not the Middle-In-Teesdale turning, the one after that. Going South on A68, go down the 'fast' stretch of Witton-Le-Wear by-pass, raised above the fields. When you level out, immediately after crossing the River Wear, turn right for Hamsterley. From both directions we are sign-posted.

Hacking Details
|
Everyone is welcome and rides are divided so that beginners will not be riding with the experienced. The rides are mainly over bridle-roads. The longest rides go through the forest and across long stretches of moorland.

Other Facilities
|
The accommodation is registered with the English Tourist Board and is known as April Cottage. The cottage has three bedrooms. A full English farmhouse breakfast is provided anytime before 9.00am.

Horse Details
|
The horses are good quality, well behaved and 100% traffic proof. They range from 16hh to 11.2hh. None bite, kick, buck rear or bolt. All are safe at all paces and capable of fast long rides or a slower pace to teach novice riders. NO DEALING IS DONE. The horses are out friends and stay here as permanent fixtures. Some are corn fed, some are not, depending on the work they are doing. All are shod, the blacksmith comes every week. Charts for feeding, worming and shoeing are kept.
