The many bridleways and tracks stretch for miles through woodlands and onto the moors to the Pennine way, where the views are magnificent. There are bridlewyas around the reservoir that pass Hannah Hauxwell's farmhouse, where she lead a lonely moorland existence, depicted in several T. V. series, books and films.

|
There are horses and ponies to suit all ages, sizes and abilities. Several of the ponies at Raygill are Dales ponies, the native pony of Teesdale. Weardale and Swaledale. Their maximum height is 14.2hh and they are predominantly black in colour. They are a strong willing pony with a kind temperament equally suited to children and first time riders, but when asked, they provide a lively comfortable ride for the more experienced. Most of the Dales ponies were bred at Raygill and are regularly shown successfully at the local Dales ponies Shows 'Jet' the 'Blue Peter Pony' was born at Raygill.

Learn to ride in a Week Holidays - If you have never, or hardly ever, ridden before, then we are sure that after a week's training, you will be reasonably competent and confident to ride, handle and look after a horse or pony yourself. This type of holiday can provide a good foundation for beginners who would prefer to learn in a short time what would take mane weeks of instruction.
